After the success of developing 12 child-friendly libraries in Badung Regency in the first cycle, this year YLAI again works together with the Department of Education, Youth and Sports and the Department of Library and Archives of Badung Regency to developing 12 more child friendly libraries in the second cycle.

The initial phase of the second cycle of child-friendly library development in Badung Regency was the signing of the MoU which had been implemented at the Education Department of Badung Regency. The next stage is the training in development of library infrastructure and resources along with the school community, which is the main supporter of the activity.

The training that lasted for 3 days from 25-27 October 2017 was opened by the representative of the Head of Education, Youth and Sports Department of Badung Regency and witnessed by the Head of Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of Education, Youth and Sports Department of every sub-district of Badung Regency.

The training was attended by 40 participants consisting of principals, teachers and librarians from 12 selected schools as well as elementary school supervisors from each sub-district in Badung Regency. The second cycle training on Child-Friendly Library was facilitated by YLAI trainers along with the trainers from the Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Badung Regency, who had received the previous ToT, as well as the librarians from the Department of Archives and Library of Badung Regency.

In this training, the participants were equipped with various library management skills so that the library becomes a fun place for children, as well as training in the procedure for the sustainability of child-friendly library program.

With a strong collaboration between Yayasan Literasi Anak Indonesia (YLAI) with the Department of Education, Youth and Sports and the Department of Library and Archives of Badung Regency, it is expected that the program to develop reading habits through the child-friendly library will run well. In the future it is expected that the benefits of this program can be felt by more students and teachers.
