Effective teaching and learning processes occur when students actively and independently enrich themselves by reading various genres of books. When students want, often do, and enjoy reading activities, then it can be said that the reading habit has grown. School library is a place provided in schools to facilitate students in cultivating reading habits.<\/p>\n<p>This is in line with the vision of Yayasan Literasi Anak Indonesia (YLAI). The love of reading creates lifelong learning. Thus, YLAI is partnering with UNICEF of Tanah Papua to conduct training on the Management of Child-Friendly Library.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); letter-spacing: var( --e-global-typography-text-letter-spacing ); background-color: var( --e-global-color-b0d5f65 );\">The training was conducted in two sessions. The first training was held in Timika on 11-12 September 2017 for pilot schools in the regency of Biak Numfor, Jayawijaya and Mimika. The following training was held on 14-15 September 2017 in Manokwari for pilot schools in the districts of Jayapura, Sorong and Manokwari. The training was attended by principals, appointed teachers and librarians, representatives of the Education Department of each regency as well as representatives of LPMP of Papua province and LPMP of West Papua province. We were very proud to see the commitment and effort shown by each school to maximize the function of their library. With the ongoing support provided by YLAI and UNICEF Tanah Papua these schools continue to improve to create the ideal child-friendly library. In the short time, these appointed schools will be the model for developing child-friendly libraries in the Land of Papua.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schools as a room to educate the nation\u2019s children need to have a library. The library should be \u2018alive\u2019 in the midst of children.
