Yayasan Literasi Anak Indonesia continues to develop the habit and love of reading among elementary school students. Yayasan Literasi Anak Indonesia (YLAI) in collaboration with the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Denpasar will develop child-friendly libraries in Denpasar, with the focus at the beginning of this year in East and North Denpasar.
The initial phase of the implementation of this program was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 6 selected schools in East Denpasar and North Denpasar, attended by school principals and school libraries receiving the program. The signing of MoU was held on October 24, 2017 at the meeting room of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Denpasar. The signing was witnessed by the Head of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Denpasar, I Wayan Gunawan.
The Head of Education Department welcomed the child-friendly library program in Denpasar because it strengthened the foundation of the School Literacy Program launched by the government through the government regulations for the Education and Culture Department No.23 of 2015 on education of character and morale.
A movement can only be achieved if each section commits, synergizes, and works together in accordance with the basic goals and functions of each component with the support of the government. Hopefully, the benefits of this program can be felt by more students in the area of Denpasar so that students grow into independent readers with good character.
